12 Months of Phoenix AZ Sporting Events

Phoenix AZ is known to be a great place to live and vacation primarily due to the weather. We are not called the Vally of the Sun for nothing as it rains, what seems to be, just a handful of days a year.

Phoenix AZ, Scottsdale and towns like Glendale, Peoria, Gilbert and Mesa offer outdoor activities that include hiking, biking, fishing, boating (yes, we have water), and golf, golf and more golf.  12 Months of Phoenix AZ Sporting Events

Even though, Phoenix AZ, well Glendale AZ to be more specific hosted the Superbowl last year, Phoenix is not a destination known for its sports. And, yes, we do not have the long-standing tradition of the New York Yankees (though, I cant resist pointing out that we have more World Series Championships in the last 8 years than they do). We do not have the fan friendly or fan hostile loyalty of Boston and their Patriots, Celtics and Red Sox.

However, we offer something to all fans that virtually no other city can boast. We have major sporting events every month of every year.

Take a look at this annual calendar of sporting events in and around Phoenix AZ.

January

  • Rock and Roll Marathon sponsored by PF Changs.  Either run in it or watch the more than 30,000 runners participate the home of the world record for the 1/2 marathon and enjoy live music on virtually every corner as the runners make their way through Tempe, Phoenix and Scottsdale.
  • FBR Phoenix Open PGA Golf  – held at the TPC Scottsdale is the most highly attended sporting event in the world with more than 500,000 spectators each year. From experience, I can tell you that 499,000 go for the social scene and never catch a glimpse of golf :)
